The Principality of the Pillow Fortress uses a system of tiered readiness statuses in the preparation and management of emergencies and other crises which pose serious existential risk to the continued existence of the state. The change from one level to another in a readiness status results in new logistic, strategic, and tactical postures across the domain that readiness status is responsible for. Both civilian and military organs use readiness statuses, and the system's standards are maintained by the Emergency Management Organization, though it does not set readiness levels itself. Readiness levels can be set independently of each other, and may be geographically limited to specific areas depending on circumstance. Currently there are four readiness statuses, CIVSTAT, DEFSTAT, GALSTAT, and POPSTAT.

CIVSTAT

Civilian readiness status (CIVSTAT) is concerned with keeping the civilian government of the Principality operational at all times.

CIVSTAT
CIVSTAT 5 Normal readiness
CIVSTAT 4 Increased readiness, additional safety and emergency drills
CIVSTAT 3 Emergency facilities at secure locations brought up to operational levels
CIVSTAT 2 Transfer of key personnel to secure locations
CIVSTAT 1 Shift to operational control of civilian government from secure locations

DEFSTAT

Defense readiness status (DEFSTAT) is concerned with the mobilization of the Pillow Fortress Armed Forces, including the Platinum Band and the People's Army.

DEFSTAT
DEFSTAT 5 Normal readiness
DEFSTAT 4 Above normal readiness, partial mobilization for low-intensity conflict
DEFSTAT 3 Further mobilization, activation of reserves
DEFSTAT 2 Full mobilization, transition to war economy
DEFSTAT 1 High-intensity conflict, total war

GALSTAT

Princess readiness status (GALSTAT) is concerned with the physical safety of the Princess.

GALSTAT
GALSTAT 5 Normal readiness, Princess is healthy, safe, location accounted for
GALSTAT 4 Increased security due to minor illness or political/diplomatic tensions
GALSTAT 3 All travel and appointments not vital to governing the Principality are suspended
GALSTAT 2 Princess moved to secure location, line of succession briefed on situation and moved to different secure locations
GALSTAT 1 Princess's location unknown, or Princess is in critical medical condition, or Princess has been kidnapped by hostile forces
GALSTAT 0 Princess confirmed dead, next in line of succession assumes the throne, new GALSTAT level set

POPSTAT

Population readiness status (POPSTAT) is concerned with the protection of the general population.

POPSTAT
POPSTAT 5 Normal readiness
POPSTAT 4 Increased readiness, information distributed to populations in affected areas
POPSTAT 3 Secure locations (bunkers, shelters, refugee camps, etc.) made operational, local community leaders briefed
POPSTAT 2 Begin transfer of population to secure locations
POPSTAT 1 End transfer of population to secure locations, lockdown persists until emergency has ended
