Fortressian language, in the broadest sense, refers to all languages spoken within the Principality, with a more narrow definition being all those given some level of official sanction by the government. Currently, the Pillow Fortress has only one official language, that being a slightly modified form of American English. This "Fortressian English" differs in that it recognizes a twenty-eight letter alphabet, with the addition of both - and ' as letters (both phonemically representing the glottal stop, and alphabetically located after Z). There were, in the distant past, plans for the creation and adoption of a constructed language for official use co-equal with that of Fortressian English, but these efforts are moribund. There is, however, some tentative plans to incorporate toki pona in some manner, though not as an official language, likely as an element of the K-12 curriculum.
Fortressian English is also the official language of the Republic of the Serene Gate.
