Client State
A client state is a sovereign state which has chosen to enter into a permanent and subordinate union with the Principality. Such client states have their own governments, institutions, laws, etc. and are allowed to develop according to their own designs and desires, subject to oversight by the Pillow Fortress in order to prevent the client state from committing any atrocities or facing internal collapse or to aid in disaster prevention and relief. Typically, the Principality has full and complete responsibility for the client state's defense and foreign affairs, and regardless of a client state's form of government, the reigning Princess serves as ceremonial head of state.
Currently, the Principality has one client state, the Republic of the Serene Gate, however it is an atypical client state arrangement, and should not be viewed as being the norm.
