Pillow Fortress Armed Forces
The Pillow Fortress Armed Forces encompasses all the different militaries and paramilitaries which serve to defend and protect the Principality and its interests. With the exception of Her Majesty's Royal Guard Force, they are all subordinate to the civilian leadership and control of the Department of Defense and ultimately to the Princess as commander-in-chief of the armed forces.
Militaries
Militaries are fully weaponized organizations empowered by the law and custom of the Principality to commit violence on its behalf.
Platinum Band
The largest and central component in the defense of the Pillow Fortress, the Platinum Band is a professional, volunteer fighting force consisting of multiple orders, each dedicated to a different battlespace:
- Order of the Air Force
- Order of the Army
- Order of the Cyber Force
- Order of the Militia
- Order of the Navy
- Order of the Selecty
- Order of the Spacy
People's Army
The People's Army is a volunteer militia consisting of individuals who would otherwise be unable to join the Platinum Band, be it do to age or falling below physical qualifications. It is a low intensity military, which is called up in times of war and threat to the Principality, taking on rear guard duties and additional internal security in order to free up the full potential of the Platinum Band to counter the Pillow Fortress's enemies.
Fortressian Foreign Army
The Fortressian Foreign Army is a collection of units, mostly infantry and support, under the authority of the Order of the Army open to non-citizens and non-subjects of the Pillow Fortress. Successfully completing a term of service comes with an offer of citizenship.
Paramilitaries
Paramilitaries are like militaries in structure and formation, but are not fully weaponized. Though in the course of a conflict their members might be forced to commit the same or similar violence as a military, they are primarily intended to use the advantages of military organization as a means to achieve non-violent goals. These paramilitaries often recruit or conscript conscientious objectors.
Home Front
During peacetime, the Home Front is subordinate to the Emergency Management Organization. It is activated during extreme emergencies in order to supplement the defense of the Principality and assist the Platinum Band, People's Army, People's Labor Force, and any other government organization as needed by conscripting those citizens and subjects which have been deemed otherwise incapable of service in the Pillow Fortress Armed Forces or the People's Labor Force, but who can still be of use in other capacities.
People's Labor Force
The People's Labor Force consists of ad hoc cadres and worker battalions established by the Principality during states of extreme emergencies, such as total war. Conscripted individuals are those judged to be unable to fight in the militaries, but are still fit for jobs in essential industries.
Her Majesty's Royal Guard Force
Her Majesty's Royal Guard Force is tasked with the physical protection of the Princess, her family, her residences and working spaces, and visiting foreign dignitaries.
