Estates of State

The Estates of State are the highest level structures of the Pillow Fortress, going beyond just the government, but seeking to categorize all aspects of the Principality. The estates are not organizations in and of themselves, and have no organs dedicated to their maintenance as estates, but only those which serve the furtherance of their goals.

Zeroth Estate

The Zeroth Estate consists of the citizenry of the Pillow Fortress.

First Estate

The First Estate consists of the Throne, and serves as the executive of the government.

Second Estate

The Second Estate consists of the Directory, and serves as the legislature of the government.

Third Estate

The Third Estate consists of the Xeer, and serves as the judiciary of the government.

Fourth Estate

The Fourth Estate consists of any and all government organs not in the First, Second, or Third Estates. These organs are rare, but do exist.

Fifth Estate

The Fifth Estate consists of all non-governmental organizations incorporated in the Pillow Fortress, including but not limited to corporations, churches, clubs, associations, etc. Despite its importance to the Principality, the Libertine Party is within the Fifth Estate.

Sixth Estate

The Sixth Estate consists of all non-sentient life under the jurisdiction of the Pillow Fortress, including but not limited to non-human animals, fungi, plants, bacteria, and viruses.

Seventh Estate

The Seventh Estate consists of all territories of the Principality, regardless of their form or composition.

Eighth Estate

The Eighth Estate consists of all client states and client non-state entities. Whether or not these entities also use an estate system to categorize their various components is irrelevant to their standing within the Estates of State. A client state's legislature would not be a part of the Second Estate, for example.

Ninth Estate

The Ninth Estate consists of all non-citizen subjects, including but not limited to those citizens of client states who lack Fortressian citizenship, permanent residents, tourists, and other foreigners living within the territory of the Pillow Fortress.
