Department of Trade and Commerce

The Republic of the Serene Gate's Department of Trade and Commerce manages economic activity with foreign states. As the Republic was created to facilitate such activity, this department is its most important organ.

Branches

Domestic Business Branch

The Domestic Business Branch exports Fortressian goods and services to otherwise hostile states by obfuscating their origins through the establishment of shell and front entities. This isn't a secret, and is done to make these transactions palatable to the receiving state, its government, and/or its population.

Foreign Business Branch

The Foreign Business Branch imports goods and services from otherwise hostile states and distributes them to the Pillow Fortress.

Foreign Trade Branch

The Foreign Trade Branch manages all economic activity between the Republic and foreign states which falls outside of imports and exports, such as security trading and investments.

Independent agencies

Bank of the Serene Gate

The Bank of the Serene Gate provides financial services to the Republic and to the foreign states it does business with. Its accounts and actions are insured and backed by the Second Bank of the Pillow Fortress.

Serene Gate Mint

The Serene Gate Mint designs and prints the Republic's physical currency, which may be necessary for certain transactions. The Serene Gate's money is also legal tender in the Principality, though its use by the general population is discouraged.

The Office of the Minister of Trade and Commerce is the main organ through which the department is run day-to-day.
